It's also interesting to me that pop stars (who, you may have noticed, are predominantly women) are the ones who usually get criticized for making lowest-common-denominator slop, but there's way more ambition in anything by Billie Eilish or Chappell Roan or Charli XCX than there is in... this. ๐It's also interesting to me that pop stars (who, you may have noticed, are predominantly women) are the ones who usually get criticized for making lowest-common-denominator slop, but there's way more ambition in anything by Billie Eilish or Chappell Roan or Charli XCX than there is in... this. ๐
Anyway, I'm sure Luke Bryan appeals to someone but after 11 songs of this 14-song album I can definitively say he doesn't appeal to me, I just find this incredibly boring. There's no artistic ambition on display, this is music as commercial product with all the banality and tedium that implies.Anyway, I'm sure Luke Bryan appeals to someone but after 11 songs of this 14-song album I can definitively say he doesn't appeal to me, I just find this incredibly boring. Texted my sister about this and my phone tried to change "Starcade" to "Staircase". ๐Texted my sister about this and my phone tried to change "Starcade" to "Staircase". ๐
"Actually, it's reactionary to dislike how an unregulated consumer-level economy that's known for price-gouging has made Hamburger Helper a sometimes treat. Here's a graph about that."
Liberals being completely unwilling to grant anyone any concessions on the idea that "the economy" as a stat bloc is disconnected from the abilities to, say, buy groceries or be housed, will never stop being exasperating.
Googling turns up the original clip from the show, a lot of Reddit results, some Etsy links for some reason, but no songs. I'm surprised, what a missed opportunity.Googling turns up the original clip from the show, a lot of Reddit results, some Etsy links for some reason, but no songs. This song's called "Fish On The Wall" and I'm barely paying attention because now I'm wondering if anyone ever made a Twin Peaks-inspired song called "Fish In The Percolator", someone HAD to have done that, right? ๐This song's called "Fish On The Wall" and I'm barely paying attention because now I'm wondering if anyone ever made a Twin Peaks-inspired song called "Fish In The Percolator", someone HAD to have done that, right? ๐
Also there's something offputting about the "look how country I am, here are some more country words about country things, have I told you how country I am?" style of lyrics, it gets a little silly after a while. Also there's something offputting about the "look how country I am, here are some more country words about country things, have I told you how country I am?" style of lyrics, it gets a little silly after a while.
In my ongoing effort to Give More Music A Chanceโข I'm listening to Luke Bryan's album and while this seems like a solid enough modern mainstream country record there's a reason my preference is for artists like Sierra Ferrell or Bella White and not "dudes who sing country with rock guitars".In my ongoing effort to Give More Music A Chanceโข I'm listening to Luke Bryan's album and while this seems like a solid enough modern mainstream country record there's a reason my preference is for artists like Sierra Ferrell or Bella White and not "dudes who sing country with rock guitars".
Remove four of the 12 tracks (the first three and "Anger") and this would be a vastly better album. Most of what's here is actually good but leading with the weakest tracks is going to keep a lot of people from getting to the rest.Remove four of the 12 tracks (the first three and "Anger") and this would be a vastly better album.
