Surreal to think that it’s been 10 years this month since I won the Federal Duck Stamp! My acrylic painting of a pair of Ruddy Ducks went on to be made into the 2015-16 Stamp. Looking back at it a decade later is still pretty weird. To celebrate, a few small things! (continued)

Acrylic painting of a pair of ruddy ducks swimming in a lake with some low hills in the background. The front duck is a drake with rufus reddish coloring overall, a stiff black tail sticking up, a dark eye, a striking black and white head, and a weird bright blue bill. Behind him, the hen is mottled brown and cream, with a cheek stripe and cap of brown, and a blackish bill. The watermark reads: 2015- 2016 Federal Duck Stamp, Art copyright 2014 Jennifer Miller, featherdust dot com
A digital image of the 2015-2016 Federal Duck Stamp. The stamp with a perforated edge design, shows a reproduction of an artist's rendition of two ruddy ducks swimming in a lake with subtle hills in the background. The stamp has a denomination of $25 in the upper left, and below it is labeled with the following information: ruddy ducks, U.S. Department of the Interior, Void after June 30, 2016. At the bottom in bold text it reads: Migratory Bird Hunting And Conservation Stamp.
The peel-and-stick type stamp with a carrier card that has more art and text information. The card shows a scene of two ruddy duck drakes swimming in Great Lakes habitat, with Emerald Shiner fish, bullrush, and a black tern flying.
The text reads: U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. 2015-2016 Migratory Bird Hunting and Conservation Stamp. The habitats protected with Federal Duck Stamp dollars benefit hundreds of species the need wetlands to feed, breed, and rest. In some of the same salt marshes and shallow waters where you'll find ruddy ducks, you may also glimpse the Ridgway's rail, a grayish-brown, chicken-sized bird with a long, curving bill and a conspicuous white rump. Once abundant in California's wetlands, the Ridgeway's rail fell to near extinction as wetlands were altered or developed. Your Duck Stamp purchase directly helps to protect habitat that is key to the survival of the Ridgeway's rail and other rare species. Artist: Jennifer Miller. Ruddy Duck.

Mean while the intensive solar bursts are knocking out all communication satellites and power grids on the nearby civilised planet. 😊

"Chasing the Sun" Great Egrets, 12"x16" oil painting on panel, 2022. My thanks to Andy Reago and Chrissy McClarren of Flickr for their reference photographs for the egrets!

An oil painting of three great egrets wading through shallow water in front of a sunset scene. The egrets are overall white with long necks and long black legs, long sharp yellow beaks, and a patch of green skin in front of the eyes. Each bird is in a different pose, all stalking forward together closely as a group, sort of giving the same vibe as the three witches moving together from the movie Hocus Pocus. The water is mostly calm and reflecting the sunset. In the background, a treeline is in silhouette and the sun is low to the horizon. The artist watermark reads: Jennifer Miller "Nambroth" 2022, featherdust dot com

Plum season is over, thank goodness for that. It was a really good year for plums in our garden. We harvested around 30 kg of plums, and shared a good part of it with neighbour. Result is 76 jars of various types of plum jam and a good deal of plum liquor.

Plums in bowl, plums on towels, plums on plate, and pitted plums. Plum torture device is also included in photo.
Many jars of green plum jam.
Many jars of red plum jam and two jars of red plum liquor.
Many jars of purple plum jam and two jars of purple plum liquor.

Installing Arch Linux is painful. NearToTheSky has been at it for soon a week and my computer still is not working. But at least it can do the train.

A steam lokomotive puffing it's way across the eternal black void of Arch Linux, in hope of finally finding the destination that was promised to it days ago.

This totally metal car found in Kamiōoka is amazing!

At first glance, you would believe this black car got wrinkled in some sort of accident. At a closer look, you realize it is a skeleton embedded into the hood. At several places along the fender is skulls embedded into the car body. In the front window lies a licence plate spelling out ZOMBIE.
Picture from the side of same car, skulls embedded in body of car at several places. The car also has been lowered, so good luck getting over any speed bumps. Do they even have speed bumps in Japan? I can not recall ever having seen any. By the way, the body of the bar has lots of colourful jaggedy lines and patterns.
A closer look at the side of the car, we can see that the external mirror of this car looks like a monster from Elden Ring. If it was, it would have 9800 HP. It's special attack would be a kinetic attack from your back while you walk down the pavement. Why is that rear wheel sticking out so much, anyway?

Tokyo is pretty big. Also, if home os where wifi connect automatically, I guess Japan is my home now.

Big city in night time. If you look extra close you can see Tokyo tower in the far distance.
