Definitely. I'm planning a symposium right now, and my fellow organizers and I have already agreed that we're going to wait until a few months before abstracts are due to send out invitations, so that folks don't ignore or forget.

I appreciate your warnings, Prof. Cramer! It is a reputable conference, and one that I was planning to attend anyways. I don't know why they're adding me last-minute (I suspect some lack of planning or forethought), but the symposium is related to my work, so I'm inclined to accept, annoyance aside.

Just got invited to give a talk (yay!), but abstract submission is in two days (what‽‽‽). Why was I not asked sooner? I did not need this stress. My fellow academics, I'm begging y'all: if there's any way that you can avoid it, don't make other people rush for you. #PhDSky#AcademicSky#ChemSky 🧪

Your regular reminder that we, your professors, LOVE IT when you email us after the fact to let us know what you're up to. Truly one of the most gratifying parts of this work.

Researchers show how you can use iron phosphate electrodes to selectively extract lithium from brines. A pilot-scale cell with an electrode surface area of 33.75 m2 was used to obtain lithium extraction from Dead Sea brine with a recovery rate of 84.0%. Source: www.science.org/doi/10.1126/... 🔌💡🧪

Please sign in solidarity with Momodou Taal, a graduate student whom Cornell is threatening with immediate deportation for his pro-Palestine and anti-genocide activism. Signatures from outside the Cornell community are welcomed.

Also this week in SCIENCE, we have two approaches to harvesting lithium from seawater--a passive approach from Baoxia Mi's & Jia Zhu's groups, and an active cycling approach from Kuo-Wei Huang's & Zhiping Lai's groups chemsky 🧪 www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...
