The on-the-ground reporting from average people caught up in events was what was so addictive about twitter to me, years back. Seeing more of that here is great.

Ultimately though all such regulations depend on cops to enforce them. That's why I see a "fuck it, let's just ban them here" option looking more attractive to more places.

No way to tell until harm is done. The best thing is for maximum numbers of people to forego assholery.

I live in the Portland, OR metro area and have very rarely run into a true asshole in a car. My experience has been almost universally good, but, you know, Portland.

What is going to happen instead is that ebikes are just going to get banned in more places. In almost all states there is a 750 watt limit on motor size. Yet bikes are routinely marketed and sold with motor sizes ridiculously larger than that for "off road use only." Yeah, right.

Of course there are also pedestrians who walk in groups on mixed use sidewalks and trails and hog the whole width of the trail and make no effort to keep a lane open and then give you stink eye even if you are on your conventional bike at walking speed trying to get by and they are also assholes.

And the dog walkers with the f'ing malamutes on a 30 foot lead who basically dare to try to not get bit. They too, are assholes. So it's not just a bike thing.

What I don't get is the sidewalk thing. One thing an ebike can do, at least in urban areas, is make it a lot easier to stay more safely with the flow of traffic.
