I am immediately wary of anyone that tries to claim that liking a movie, even a movie I detest, reflects a moral failing or a defect of character.

Robin Williams riffs some insults with the lost boys and then he can see the imaginary food. Kids, that’s the magic of improv.

The swashbuckling and emotional themes are some of John Williams’s best, but then all the Lost Boys music sounds like rejected Ewok music from RETURN OF THE JEDI.

A fundamental problem with this movie is that it’s just not fun watching Robin Williams play this stick in the mud prick for so much of the film. And then not that fun to see him as Pan. Stuffy and whimsical are two of Williams’ least appealing modes.

Julia Roberts, only a year out from PRETTY WOMAN, is astoundingly terrible as Tinkerbell. I have never seen her so charmless and adrift.

Very weird scene where Maggie Smith, basically Peter’s mother/grandmother figure, talks about how hot Peter was for her as a young girl. Thinking about weird Freudian undercurrents in THE FABELMANS.

Classic early 90s “cell phone = too caught up in work and disconnected from family” trope. Seems so quaint now.
