boy howdy does that new Nightwish album sound bad. I know they said they did all of this on purpose, but my god what a decision to try and turn everything up at once and ignore dynamics.

the latest one isn't good either, IMO, but the one before that I think had Hardwired, which was a pretty decent thrash tune. Although the fellas in Exodus have exactly the kinds of opinions you'd expect them to have, I still think they make better thrash metal nowadays.

in fairness they did eventually get back to trying to do what they started with, with Death Magnetic but that whole record suffered needlessly because of some audio engineer and the loudness wars. It was really hard to listen to it, and honestly the musicianship at that point wasn't what it was.

I remember the feeling when Load came out. My buddies and I were like, okay this is a pretty good joke. Then Reload came out and we were like THIS IS NOT FUNNY! Then St Anger and that was the last straw! It was all fun and games til you made Newstead cry.

Lars is still sore that I got Reload for free.
