CBS News has all but endorsed Vance. He’s been the most frequently invited guest on Face the Nation for two years running. A news outlet that tells its star guest he can spread misinformation without fear of a fact check, and come back every other week to do it again, is not a news outlet.
CBS News Says It Will Be Up To Vance And Walz To Fact-Check Each Other In Veep Debate In other words, Vance will be allowed to spew a firehose of lies with no pushback from “moderators,” who won’t actually moderate anything because CBS is scared of the right wing reaction.
CBS News says it will be up to the candidates, not the moderators, to fact-check each other.
Fascinating. I long suspected that the Sil Valley types are too smart, cynical and manipulative to back trump w/out an “exit plan”. Like when a VC takes control of a startup and sends the founder to “spend more time with his/her family”. Maybe Trump is more stubborn & delusional than they thought
I hope the survey first qualified those even paying attention at all to politics? Because I think readers of Pbump’s great columns have a diff level of “following” politics than the avg person or even avg voter. I fear that many voters - 1/4? 1/3? - get at best general feelings w/out substance
Like I said, gutless. I can’t believe the majority of shareholders are delusional. Plus even a minority of shareholders may be able to bring legal action for breach of fiduciary duty. Courts can intervene for unfair prejudice against minority shareholders, force changes in control, sale of shares.
Right? I mean who is anyone to question the judgement of a country ruled by a leader who once made 18 holes-in-one on a golf course?
If every country had a policy of not letting immigrants in from “dangerous countries” the US outlier murder rate would prevent US citizens from immigrating to 75% of the world’s countries including Kenya, Cameroon, Tunisia, Gambia, anywhere in Europe, most of Asia, etc… all with lower murder rates.
Sorry. Autocorrect. I actually wrote: “Were Pence’s SS detail….”
We’re Pence’s SS detail later complicit in deleting their messages or did they just not say anything about what happened to their and their colleagues’ historically and legally important comms?
What are the criteria for an OpEd in papers these days? Do editors provide any framing - “sure you can publish but it has to be factual and address issues x, y, and z” OR is it just an open bar in the spin city? I recall Vance’s OpEd about Ukraine was going to lose anyway so just let Russia win
He’s a bit of a religious whacko “Where do you get your love? Where do you get your talents?' And I can turn to them and say without blinking, 'Jesus Christ.' “ Not surprising he aligns with whacko political beliefs.
