i think the movie intentionally didnt resolve any of those obvious questions so that way the main characters could make those discoveries themselves on their journey but i was being a poindexter about it the whole time i was watching

like come on bro in three years you know *nothing* about the shimmer? you couldnt just lock a pig in a cage three feet inside the shimmer and tie a rope to it to yank out after a week and see what happens? or park some machine inside and let the cord run back to home base?

i also am fine taking in ambiguous endings and less rigid plot structures as a movie watcher but there were like weird very annoyingly minor details that kept me from sinking my teeth in

i think it’s a good thoughtful movie. my kind of sci fi. really liked the tone, kind of understated performances everyone gives. had a few issues with it tho. gina rodriguez plays every scene ten times too hard and it does not work at all until basically her death sequence

sorry forgot to respond to this watched movie and video. i’ll be honest i think i was too zooted out to catch everything on first watch so the video deffo helped me register all the metaphors i missed at first.
