Paused my reading at the library to compliment someone on their art. What was meant to be a quick nod turned into a half-hour of great conversation. Sometimes, the best parts of the day are the unplanned ones.
Outstanding interview by Dale Dougherty of Make Magazine with Jim Sweeney of Nova Labs! Dale's questions really highlighted the success & mpact of their makerspace. It's inspiring to see such great work in the maker community. I can only hope what I'm working on will have as much success.
Stumbled upon this gem from Michael J. Fox: ‘With gratitude, optimism is sustainable.’ It’s a simple yet profound reminder, especially on challenging days. What are you grateful for today?
Today's been a whirlwind of amazing progress! Received responses from our city's Mayor and the local arts council who are keen to learn more about my vision for the makerspace. Plus, there's a meeting lined up with a rep from a local real estate firm about a potential location.
I received this timely reminder from a friend @joshspector (on Twitter) “Successful creators collaborate with their “competition.” I’ve been on the fence about reaching out – worried they might ‘steal my idea’ 😈. I’m taking the leap and sending that email today to ask for a meeting.
The business plan is going well. I had the privilege of connecting with Community Futures BC. They’ve assisted by connecting me with a business advisor who is helping me with this. The next step. Estimating the expenses. Wish me luck. 😂
Should I be concerned that the names of the first 2 accounts to follow me are called 1. Cats and 2. The Devil?
Today I start writing my business plan. I haven’t attempted this since my C.A.L.M class back in high school. Back then I didn’t take it very seriously. I only ever imagined myself having a career in computers or the trades. I’m fairly good with both. Even now.
It’s taken a while but I found my new direction! I’m going to start a business! Do I know how to do this? Absolutely not. But, I’ll learn. If [you have] an amazing opportunity but you are not sure you can do it, say yes – then learn how to do it later! ~ Richard Branson
