No. The police were 100% designed to keep you down. When I was a kid, they had all those programs where cops would come to our school to talk to us about how we could trust them, and get help from them. I guess I believed them. Privilege meant believing them didn't affect me much.

I have had meltdowns in public, and have been tackled by police (Canada). Bruises, not bullet wounds. I have no doubt that if I were BIPOC, I wouldn't be alive--so many "wellness" checks end in murder. No one should have to be afraid of the people who were supposed to protect us.
