obviously those in need of assistance is top priority. I know that this might feel, for those of you who are kind of deep in the climate camp, as a bit uncomfortable - whatever those other conversations might be, they continue to fall short in providing any tangible relief whatsoever.

jurisdictions also consider historical regional events, i.e. storms that have occurred in the vicinity historically as if they are centered on the local gauge. This draws a distinction between regular extreme weather locally (usually spring) vs rare regional extreme events (usually autumn).

Return period borrows from extrapolation on a local station e.g. fitting a log-pearson distribution to an array of maximum 24 hr rainfall in mm 60, 75, 90, 85, 70, 95, 110, 100, 80, 105 (over 10 years) has 1% probability 146mm.

good discussion. this is why we have hydrologists and stormwater engineers. Regional storm events such as hurricanes are distinct from IDF analysis in technical guidelines. Everyone seems to know this except for climate political activists.

energy production fell from 400 to 300 units. this is more about de-industrialization.

species abundance has decreased 50-75% globally in the past 50 years, particularly at lower latitudes. do you find there is a curious lack of fuchs given for the 95%+ of decline which is not attributable to climate change?

just like social response to shifts in perspective or ideas.

yes. Temperature along with atmospheric trace gas concentrations are rising faster than ever. Terms like "climate solutions field" and "climate smart investment" appear to be marketing terms, nothing more.
