I handed in my PhD thesis today 🥳 What a great, yet weird feeling. If you are interested: my defense is 3rd May (will be available online). Hit me up, if you are interested ;) @mpimarinemicrobio.bsky.social
Hahaha. You are right! I just mentioned it, because I’d be curious about the reasons (with a potential ecological background). I would think someone has done this before … And if not, it could be a whole expedition by itself 🚢
This screams for “test them all! And compare the different methods”. I am sure there’s phages preferring the one over the other method :) but is this preference Pinkes to phylogeny/morphology/…? Good luck!
That’s the bare minimum … Thanks for sharing!
Phage folks who do culturing… how do you preserve your environmental samples for later plaque assays? I was taught just 0.2 micron filter & store in fridge but anecdotally hearing more about glycerol and freezing? Thoughts? Advice? Papers to read? Working with fresh samples isn’t an option #phagesky
New opinion piece in @TrendsMicrobiol @CellPressNews A microbial matter close to my heart: the role of #Endozoicomonas#corals@marenziegler.bsky.social and I synthesized evidence from diverse studies, concluding corals and Endoz may not be the dream team we make them out to be 🧫🪸 👇🏻
