In this Telegraph article Karl Williams (CPS) tries to use the recent OBR report to back up his claims most migrants are on low wages. Unfortunately, he neglected to read *what the OBR actually said* before writing. A (brief, simplified) explanation of his main error (1/n) archive.ph/pV3MV
Spin* from the Telegraph ⬇️
As Williams says, OBR found (no surprise!) high wage migrants who remain here indefinitely make a substantial net fiscal contribution; reverse is true for low wage migrants (those on average wages do better than UK-born, since we don’t educate them). (2/7) obr.uk/docs/dlm_upl...
Thank you, Jonathan Portes, for reading both and telling it like it is here. Hope it's widely shared.
How can someone who describes themselves as a data specialist be so incompetent with data. The Telegraph has such a bad track record of just making things up, where even a non-specialist can spot it, and they’re not even embarrassed about it. C.f. their story about killer cyclists doing 52mph.
You mean a Telegraph writer didn't do his journalistic duty?! Unheard of! Never before seen! 🙃
