The idea that fascist movements can be defeated by ridicule or logic is a liberal fantasy with no basis in reality. Comedy and ridicule are important *parts* of resistance movements. But they are not the resistance movements. There will be no "At long last, have you no sense of decency?" moment.
Fascist movements, from the KKK to the Nazis to MAGA, rely on an ever-changing and flexible set of conspiracy theories, fueled by motivated reasoning. ANY out-group can serve as the Enemy. Jews, queers, Roma, communists, socialists, BLM, antifa, intellectuals, meteorologists, Big Media.
