Ah! Fascinating. Not sure about France but wouldnāt be surprised if Italian norms also followed there as so many other similarities.
Interesting, in Italy in the period I know about, so a bit earlier, women seemed to be in charge of hair dressing, eyebrow plucking et al. Servants but also specialists whoād go from home to home.
