I can't wait for the introduction of Earth-3's Metalllo.
According to this site, Metalo (aka George Grant) only had one other appearance a full four decades later in 1982's Superman Family #217. Unfortunately by then they filed away everything that originally made him interesting, giving him worse armor & no clever banter. dc.fandom.com/wiki/George_...
I'm surprised that Metalo didn't become a regularly recurring nemesis for Superman — the two of them have such great battle banter together!
We've replaced the real Jimmy Olsen with a crude automaton created by the Prankster — let's see if Clark Kent notices!
It wasn't just Superman who was more of a social crusader in the Golden Age — Clark was portrayed as a progressive journalist who got fired up about fighting injustice and callous capitalism.
When I read Mad's "Superduperman" parody as a kid, I was confused by Lois' loathing of Clark. Sure, she thought he was a coward in the then-current 70s stories but nothing like that. I'm guessing it was based off the earlier Golden Age portrayals of Lois who was much more visceral in her hatred.
