I can't wait for the introduction of Earth-3's Metalllo.

According to this site, Metalo (aka George Grant) only had one other appearance a full four decades later in 1982's Superman Family #217. Unfortunately by then they filed away everything that originally made him interesting, giving him worse armor & no clever banter. dc.fandom.com/wiki/George_...

I'm surprised that Metalo didn't become a regularly recurring nemesis for Superman — the two of them have such great battle banter together!

World's Finest Comics #6 introduced a cool new villain to battle Superman — Metalo (one 'l'), the Man of Metal!

The Man of Steel meets the Man of Metal!

From World's Finest Comics #6, written by Jerry Siegel with art by (according to DC's Archive credits) Leo Nowak (pencils) & John Sikela (inks) but GCD says those credits are incorrect and Sikela should be credited with both pencils and inks.

We've replaced the real Jimmy Olsen with a crude automaton created by the Prankster — let's see if Clark Kent notices!

Ahhh! Uncanny valley ventriloquist dummy Jimmy Olsen is going to give me nightmares!

It wasn't just Superman who was more of a social crusader in the Golden Age — Clark was portrayed as a progressive journalist who got fired up about fighting injustice and callous capitalism.

When I read Mad's "Superduperman" parody as a kid, I was confused by Lois' loathing of Clark. Sure, she thought he was a coward in the then-current 70s stories but nothing like that. I'm guessing it was based off the earlier Golden Age portrayals of Lois who was much more visceral in her hatred.

Lois HAH! Pain repeatedly dismisses lowly Clark Bent.
Lois angrily dismisses Clark as a MISERABLE WEAKLING!
Lois calls Clark "stupid" and "exasperating" and angrily storms off because she can no longer stand to be in his presence, slamming the door so hard she shatters the glass pane.
