Yeah, which shows you're not anything like him. :) I thought he wanted them to be mostly happy and somewhat financially secure until I realised he wouldn't tolerate what he counted as "failure" / them actually having autonomy.
I had an ex boss like that. He sounded like a great parent at first. No physical punishment, seemingly no shaming, time together, enrolling them in stuff they wanted to try, exposing them to different activities. Until I learned he wants kids that will ONLY become doctors/lawyers etc.
