Staycation comes to an end, just time to check out a few charity shops in Nottingham for books and Oxfam don't disappoint with a great selection of golden age sci-fi.

I went for a late walk in the park last night, stumbling across a graveyard plot. I think it was for a film set, there was a morose security guard set up in a flapping tent beside it and a sprinkler system ready to douse it with a portentous rain storm.
Also yesterday a visit to the National Portrait Gallery, thought for the day, will it exist in another generation? Are formal portraits a thing of the past? That said I loved some of the symbolism woven into the older paintings.
A staycation this week, so last night we went to The Thirty Nine Steps at Trafalgar Theatre. A really inventive play, loads of characters, but just 4 actors and some wonderful use of lighting and simple effects to generate some epic and epically amusing scenes. Must revisit the 1935 version.
