Make sure you crush it into a fine power before you add it to the ink. Or dissolve it in a bit of water or vinegar. You'll get more uniform results. You can also try putting an iron nail in a bit of vinegar for a few days. Then use that solution.

I'm not sure a multivitamin would work. You'd have to make sure the form of iron is ferrous sulfate. And then there is the concentration to consider. You may need many tablets to get a good reaction. I honestly think the rust may be more successful. Let me know!
