May I "well actually" you for a moment? Sometimes a person can really help just by listening while you work out your thoughts out loud. But I guess you were not sought out to perform this service since it sounds as if you were the one w/ expertise & you came expecting something more collaborative.

I don't think this is an explanation; rather it's something that has puzzled me since approx 1980, but that generation was conservative when they were young. I'm just a touch older, & it blew my mind. It wasn't just a few contrarians; it was most of them. 1/
