Know what, I'm gonna say it. If you use the O word to describe fat folks, don't follow me. If you think fat folks should lose weight to be accepted, don't follow me. If you think fat folks should hate their bodies, don't follow me.
Because it's being pushed in an absolutely despicable way, by a man who is not a medical professional in any capacity, by a government body who has absolutely no business doing it. Let alone it's a diabetes drug, not a w/l one, and one that has MANY debilitating side effects and issues.
I would rather the NHS provided comprehensive care for those that want it, and not put healthcare behind an arbitrary measurement. I would prefer those in larger bodies not be pushed into dangerous drugs and ED encouraging weight loss groups to please a harmful social norm. But here we are ๐คทโโ๏ธ
The issue being that slim people can, and do, have unhealthy habits also in terms of eating. But due to a genetic lottery manage to avoid the level of abuse that larger bodied folks experience. And thats not even getting into the abuse we get despite having EDs, we can't even access care.
Streeting, has and always will be, a Tory in a red tie.
And when you talk to your GP (at least in my experience) you get absolutely 0 credible help. Let alone when you're an eating disorder sufferer who also happens to be in a bigger body, you're pushed into incredibly damaging situations that cause far more harm than good in the long term.
