I flew from RAF Brize Norton via Ascension and it's an 18-hour trip
A poignant battlefield walk at Mount Harriet. Famously captured by 42 Commando Royal Marines on the night of 11th-12th June 1982 🇫🇰
Felt so grateful to have been invited down to the Falklands to speak & I met some amazing people. Now home, sadly, but a piece of my nerdy little battlefield touring, spotter, penguin obsessed heart will remain here in the South Atlantic until I can return 🇫🇰⚓️🩵
Me: "gozome? gozomé? What does that mean?" A random RAF chap at MPC: "GoesHome - the big grey bird out there" 🛫 Me: "Aaaaah 🤦♀️🤣" Nice stamp from Asi too!
Two 3-pdrs at Government House, Stanley 🇫🇰 One cast by Francis Kinman in Lambeth & one by I.H King at Woolwich (both dated 1807) Cyphers of King George III on both. Those farthest away of John Pitt, 2nd Earl of Chatham, Master-General of the Ordnance #GunneryIsFunnery 💥💣
I am indeed! Falklands for a few days lecturing at Mount Pleasant 🇫🇰
Let's go with that 🤣
Oh meeee too. Had to go to Oman with work and realised just under two weeks before I was due to go, when I went to apply for my visa, that I didn't actually have enough time left on my passport and had to panic order a new one 🙈🤦♀️
