It actually is xenophobia. It's one thing not to like peanut butter yourself. It's another thing to be annoyed that your child does. He very much expressed it as the US was tainting his kid. Also: other countries took to peanuts and peanut butter just fine. /1
Haitians eat peanut butter in abundance. The Senegalese have peanut soup. You see peanuts all over Thai food. Meanwhile there's literally a term that I'm blanking on to describe the European belief that new world foods (and it's people) are inherently weaker and less good than Europe/2
Oh yeah, no t wanting your kid not to like it is def xenophobia, I misspoke there. I meant it not being v popular in Europe, but actually you make some good points about that, too.
