i THINK "bring him home" guy was one of the students in that, and i think my memory of his actual performance at the conference was "his voice cracked a bit at the end but he did admirably" i genuinely don't know if i am making this up, i don't trust my old memories very much
actually, i think it wasn't an audition a voice teacher hired me near the start of my freshman year of college, to accompany her students, who were in high school i believe the goal was for them all to perform at ohio state music educator conference thing
which, obviously, the actual notes/rhythms are not the important part, especially if you're doing an audition of this it's DECEPTIVELY easy, because the point is to make it beautiful and emotional and heartrending when i accompanied this, the singer was probably in the 15-20 range it was....... fine
i know almost nothing about les mis (a few character names, super vague plot outline) i recently bought an orchestral arrangement of "bring him home" i accompanied someone on this once, i'm almost sure maybe for an audition i remember looking at it and singing it to self way fast and going "oh easy"
ok this series of images from the latest neo chaotic yt cracked my shit up video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_r_...
This is not a very nuanced or insightful bit of film criticism, but I just watched Klute and it's crazy how beautiful even normal studio movies used to look. I know that's never really coming back for a bunch of reasons but this is a real Look What They Took From Us thing for me.
Talked to one of the old coal miners yesterday and the stories are absolutely hair raising. Miles of tunnels that went down under the ocean floor. Really the stuff of nightmares
the other thing I always point out is that Summers, Geithner and Orszag rejected 3 tricks that could have boosted the stimulus without increasing its sticker price
