Yes, quite. Utterly nonsensical situation.
Ditto, Carla! We're going away on Friday so I now have to spend the rest of the day doing some cleaning (I like to come home to a clean house!) and packing etc. Have a great day. 😀
You also need a supermajority if it's a major national change, rather then the minuscule majority we had for brexit. But I don't think I'll see another referendum in my lifetime.
Yes, I agree that would be better. He could also emphasise more how important a closer relationship with the EU is.
Me too, Carla. But I'm hopeful the new government will at least stop insulting the EU!
I hope so! I had a couple of years in my late 20s of constant medical treatment when I though I would never be well again, and then again in my early 40s when I was having chemotherapy and radiotherapy. I'm now 72 and in fine health, so sending good vibes to you!
I'd like to see a different kind of statement coming from him - though I agree with Lazy that he's limited at this stage how far he can go.
I'm following your discussion with interest. We know what we want to achieve, but how to is a challenge. I agree with you that there's no way Starmer can suggest rejoining now, but I understand the frustrations!
The whole thing was set up appallingly. For such a major change there should have been a requirement for a supermajority. But Cameron thought he'd win so he didn't bother with thinking it through.
I'm also enjoying starting from scratch. I wasn't a big account anyway, but there's something nice about gradually finding people you were following in here, and meeting up with new people.
