The videos emerging from western NC and other areas in the Appalachians are breathtaking. I’m not sure we’re prepared for the death tolls from Helene, which I say as someone who has lived through multiple hurricanes and curated content from many others. There will be MANY climate change refugees.

UQ-led research has found people on the autism spectrum are almost 3 times more likely to die by suicide compared to non-autistic people.
The Waffle House index says Hurricane Helene is going to be a bad one. Below is a restaurant boarded up in Crawfordville, Florida. All of the Waffle Houses in Tallahassee are also closed (www.tallahassee.com/story/news/h...). Helene is now a Cat 4 storm.
On Twitter, @kenklippenstein.bsky.social published a link to a post which contained a link to the dossier on JD Vance reportedly hacked from Trump campaign emails. Elon Musk suspended his account immediately afterword. There is no page of policy available about hacked materials.
