Now sharing the new reconstruction of Penrith Castle funded by the Castle Studies Trust. Artist Pete Urmston, English Heritage volunteer Joanna & I worked to create an image that was lively, rich & help folk understand the site.🏺 Why, and how, did we do it? 👉 castlestudiestrust.org/blog/2024/09...

Reconstruction image of a castle yard and two ranges of buildings. There are cutaways through the right range to inner rooms of the castle. Some people in the yard wear bright colours, others more muted tones.
Photograph of Penrith Castle. There are few upstanding walls beyond shin height in this view; there are two tall stacks of stone with some flat faces which survive. The perspective of the photo is the same as the reconstruction.
