Do you use reference when you sketch? It seems logicaly hard for me to grasp how practice of an activity does not raise the skill of activity at all. 🤔 your neiron conncetions are getting stronger when you do it and all. If you sketch simple stuff you still train your 3d thinking and hand
I also think it is about progressive overload, like in a gym. If one draws every day anyway at day job and at the studio, sketching is not that crazy of a task. Just requires discipline. Burning yourself out is of no use, that I agree on 100%
I think the way you aproach it mattets a lot. In my art learning experiance everyday sketching always makes you stronger.
