Like, a Democrat could win the POPULAR vote in Kentucky. We HAVE a Democratic governor. But the electoral college can basically be like, "Aaaaww!!! But the red guys like the red candidate! And we LIKE the red guys! Let's give THEM all the delegates. It's fairer that way."
That's not the situation that holds today. The Supreme Court is wanting to let the state legislature choose who the delegates are, but now the winning party chooses the electors who as individuals are supposed to vote accordingly.
