New-to-the-UK birds aren't easy now we don't chase them (and we're only here part of the year) but yesterday gave us this treat: a yellow-browed warbler. Not new for the life list, but new to the UK. Not my photo, credit in alt text. #birding

They're a fairly common site in Guelph (if you know where and when to look) but I am always thrilled to see one. Like ravens & sandhill cranes & bluebirds, they're a rare success story among all the declines. I took this iphone photo a couple of winters back on the river in the middle of the city.

Downtown today for an outdoor concert in the central square. Sitting in the shade, looking up at blue sky and white clouds, waiting for the music to begin, I saw a bald eagle, circling and circling. #birding 📷credit alt text
