New-to-the-UK birds aren't easy now we don't chase them (and we're only here part of the year) but yesterday gave us this treat: a yellow-browed warbler. Not new for the life list, but new to the UK. Not my photo, credit in alt text. #birding

For nearly fifty miles across the UK county of Norfolk, the Peddars Way runs (arrow-straight for the most part) to end (or begin, take your choice) at Holme-next-the-Sea on the coast. I’ve walked a go...

On the bridge over the Grand, house sparrows. On a rural road, some distance from any farm. A surprise - they are urban birds here, dust-bathing in parking lots, begging at sidewalk patios, picking insects off vehicle grills. Birds of concrete, not even of suburbia. #birding 📷credits alt text

The sky was full of cliff swallows, hawking high, then swooping down to their under-bridge nests, mouths full of insects. A yellow warbler sang from the undergrowth; a common yellowthroat providing harmony. The river flowed on under the sun and sky. #birding
