This is a really fascinating paper highlighting how open science reforms, motivated by replicability, are not evidence-based. "It is striking that researchers, policymakers, journals and others are often content to implement large-scale changes without rigorous exploration of their efficacy"

I argued in a presentation that open access may be harmful as it suggests that laypersons can just do their own research and don't need to rely on experts. One of the papers in the background was Levys "Do your own research!" (doi.org/10.1007/s112... ). Don't know if helpful.

Negative intergroup contact: New meta-analysis of 238 samples “demonstrates that positive contact improves intergroup relations, but negative contact worsens them and is more impactful.” Open access: doi.org/10.1037/bul0...#SocialPsyc#Psychology 🧪

This meta-analysis extends earlier analyses of intergroup contact, or face-to-face interactions between members of opposing groups, showing that the quality of contact and opportunities andmotivation to avoid contact matter. It demonstrates that positive contact improves intergroup relations, but negative contact worsens them and is more impactful. Negative contact prevails and is thus riskier in real-world settings, offering opportunity and motivation to avoid contact. This enriched knowledgebase can help maximize the benefits of intergroup contact and minimize its risks through more targeted policy and intervention.
