I want to emphasize the importance of providing holistic support to parents so that they can effectively help their newborns. I have advocated for more comprehensive services. Despite these challenges, I want to praise AVIRT's work and value their collaboration.

Today, I am helping a young Mom who has a newborn. Mom hasn't done her taxes or put herself on Income Support. Today, I am working to try to set this all up so the baby stays secure.
I took a woman to the Woman's Health Option. She is homeless. Upon release, I have arranged a nice motel room for three days.
I helped a disabled Mom visit her children today. She has a couple of boys who are placed at her extended family. It is a very positive relationship with support from Child Welfare. The whole extended family of 14 votes on issues where a consensus cannot be reached.
A young Dad withdraws his fight to keep his child from becoming a Permanent Ward of the Government. He is just too tired of being, and I quote, "labeled" and "beaten up."
I am spending my day assisting a man with brain damage and trauma.
Now, she has completed treatment, is on medication, and has an excellent support team, including family. Child Welfare has been great on this file, working with the Mom to perhaps revoke the PGO status one day.
At a meeting with a Mom who has three children in care. All of whom are Permanent Wards of the Government unless circumstances change. Mom had some organic and environmental issues, including an abusive ex.
A sad indicator of how things are going is the number of times I take single parents to the pawn shop, so that they can pawn their electronics for grocery money. I try to help when I can, but it happens so often that I can't help everyone. Today is no different.
