If you see this, post a vampire.
There's a few of us at the Phoenix Wargames Club that are looking to give it a try, if you're interested in a game. The club meets Monday evenings at Woodlands Methodist Church.
Fourteen in attendance at Glasgow Phoenix. Condottiere, Conan and Quartermaster General: East Front boardgames and a 1920s Poland Vs Russian O Group. Also Bloodbowl!
I think we'd struggle...
Some more recent wargames and board games. A great game of Black Seas at Glasgow & District Wargaming Society (GDWS) in Shawlands. It was put on for visitors to the club. The Thing: The Boardgame, Psycho Killer, and Skull King at Lanarkshire Gamers in Blantyre.
Light to medium, I reckon. The basic activations and spending command points are quite straightforward. Morale and some of the details - unit characteristics, losing Eagles, etc probably mean it's not lightweight. The combat tables are clever, and the way an army reaches its break point is tense.
A few of the games I've played recently - Strength & Honour, A Feast for Odin, AuZtralia, and Bloodstones.
It had a really good atmosphere - I would definitely go back another year, with more arranged. Sorry to hear about your event.
