A few years ago, someone my age whom I have known for 30 years said "Kids these days don't want to work." There is nothing more depressing. The kids are fine, let them enjoy themselves.

I think a lot of this stems from a fear of aging and the "*We're* still the cool ones!" freakouts that led Gen X to write ridiculous "Millennials are killing..." thinkpieces. Generations are an artificial construct. Anyone who tells you different is selling something.
The corollary: Anyone who says this is a pain in the ass to work with. Nobody wants to work...with them.
My response to that is who WANTS to work?
We have left a seriously fucked up world to 'the kids', including terrible jobs and career prospects, not to mention serious or catastrophic climate change effects in their lifetimes. Kids work, KAREN, they just don't make any money.
