You could do what I do... Wait for laptop to fail and cajole it into starting (usually in safe mode) to find and backup all those files 😁 Then install Linux. (Linux probably would start faster on your laptop, I've installed it on ancient laptops with good results).

Erased, but I find the game in my pile-o-games and start playing? DAI has the most surprises, so I'll go with that (DA2's surprises are too depressing, I prefer knowing what's coming there)

It could be the friendly/helpful spirit that kept Wynne alive ... So, depending on the circumstances - I might trust her (like, if I'm going to die/lose companions I might risk it)
