Georgia went for Biden, Warnock, and Ossoff in 2020. Warnock & Ossoff TWICE. Some of those were ABSOLUTELY disaffected Republicans who still watch Fox. One Trump➡️Harris voter is equal to two new Harris voters. And those center-right voters are already used to regularly going out and voting.
But the problem is that's the nature of people's reactionary instincts. Most domestic issues the right bangs on are actually fine. The economy, inflation, crime -- most of it's actually pretty good, historically speaking, but they've gotta push the sky-is-falling vibes.
There's a not insignificant number of people whose attitudes towards trans people boils down to, "I'm kind of uncomfortable with it, but I don't *really* care and just wish I didn't have to hear about it all the time." If they'd just realize it's the right that's shoving it down their throats...
Federal law is federal law. The real question is whether enough Dem senators get elected to make it feasible. If that happens, GOP supermajorities won't hold in lots of places. But at some point, red state voters are going to have to acknowledge better things *are* possible.
