This is my situation.
New year! New to teaching physics? Not new but looking for a new way to do it? GIFT - Good Ideas For Teaching physics (toys, tricks, labs etc.) GLASS - Games (online) Labs And Simulations Spreadsheet (with 2nd sheet of video clips) The complete set bit.ly/3mErTj0#chatphysics#iteachphysics
Depends on the school/administrator. My friends who have been at those schools feel like the plans are never even opened or read after submitting.
I would use it if I worked at a school that required me to submit weekly lesson plans.
The new software does seem more student friendly. As a school we would have to pay for both new programs because of the functionalities we need for various labs across all the science and research classes, but that'll be a hard sell since we have a lifetime license for LoggerPro.
#ITeachPhysics people who use Vernier products. Do the Go Direct sensors really not connect with LoggerPro? My department would love to update some of our probeware with Bluetooth to get around the need for USB dongles for our Mac students, but we aren't looking to also change the software.
Oh that's really cool!
I do spend longer on reading reflections for the "trickier" and conceptual homework problems. Just to make sure I catch students who aren't fully understanding. Overall I am spending less time grading homework.
For the first 3 weeks, about the same as marking traditional homework. Then it goes much faster once the students are in the routine and have bought into why we do homework this way (metacognition, immediate feedback, what to do if still stuck etc.).
