It's one of those issues where a totally unsophisticated vulgar marxism ("the ruling class owns the media outlets so they will serve the interests of the ruling class") will lead you to the correct conclusion almost immediately vs the mental gymnastics required for other interpretations

Back when I taught into to Media Studies, nothing derailed my lectures faster than a student just sorta flippantly saying "yeah so everyone knows Fox is right wing and CNN is left wing". Framing is so prevalent that it becomes common sense & unquestionable fact, even though it's dead fucking wrong.

Is there a “left wing MSM?” Largest newspaper and TV are WSJ & Fox Most papers/ TV are slightly/very conservative. NPR and MSN are a hair left of center but I see nothing in America that resembles a “left wing media” and I say that as a moderate to slightly conservative centrist who votes blue

Been getting really irritated with the "Trump is good for business because he's so weird and entertaining, so they report on him" argument when they consistently whitewash all of the weirdest stuff he says because of how damning it would be.
