I try to start and end my day with a positive outlook even if we cannot be positive 24/7 so I curate the garden of my un/sub/conscious very carefully.
I don't mind most of the status but some seem to be on anger/bitterness 24/7 and then there's the "holier than thou" brigade.
Figured out (through ytube) how to stop seeing status messages entirely on Whatsapp. This pleases me greatly because even muting you wind up seeing them anyway. i like a stress-free weekend! Other things I do: put all work-related groups under “locked chats”
Reflecting on 30+ yrs in academia, when I started, simply no such thing as a predatory conference—nor predatory journals (only "bottom-feeding" journals 😂). By end of my career, I had to regularly counsel my grad students & postdocs about them, lest they be easily taken in. #AcademicSky#ChemSky
