Hard to improve on the final sentence of this passage in the Guardian about Badenochā€™s position on maternity rights.

The next cover of The New Yorker, in which the magazine endorses Vice President Harris. ā€” And I just overheard someone say ā€œIā€™m not voting for Kamala because sheā€™s a woman, Iā€™m voting for Kamala because she wants me to have as many rights as a manā€. This needs to be said more.

Iā€™m not sure if todayā€™s #SciArtSeptember prompt of ā€œhappily ever afterā€ is a thing that happens in real life but I thought of the great mathematician, writer and polymath, Mary Fairfax Somerville (1780-1872). šŸ§®šŸŽ¢šŸ”šŸ§ŖšŸ‘©šŸ¼ā€šŸ”¬šŸ”#histsci Arguably the best thing that ever happened to her was when she became a šŸ§µ1/n

My linocut portrait of Mary Somerville in a dress with lace collar and fur trim, surrounded by math, physics and astronomy diagrams from her publications, in a gradient of turquoise at the bottom to violet at the top.

When I read the headline about Kemi on maternity pay I was like ā€œpretty weird but probably talking about the burden on businessā€. Then you realise sheā€™s talking about statutory maternity pay? A payment mainly known for shocking every new parent with how crap it is? Proper ā€œhello I am mentalā€ stuff.

Rosie Duffield's resignation is going down with her constituents about as well as you might expect... Locals are asking her to stand down and enable a by-election "With the greatest respect Rosie, I voted for the Labour Party, not for you personally."

Every interview from now on with Badenoch should just be a series of questions about which is the better out of two cultures eg "Which one is best, Congolese or Paraguayan?" etc. Eventually when she's given enough answers we can construct a definitive hierarchy of the cultures from best to worst.
