Hand-sewing can be a specific, deliberate art form all its own. For example, consider the satisfying visual and tactile feeling of an even, perfectly spaced hand stitch, deliberately used as a design aspect. Quality depends on the care you put into it, much more than the method and tools you use.

I admire & enjoy the work of many plush makers, many of whom have become my friends over time. Art is never rivalry, unless you mean in the "our skills inspire each other to strive higher" healthy way. Art of all forms is about selling an emotion. Your product is the format of that emotion.
For smaller volume or for when you're just starting out so that you don't get overwhelmed, it's okay to start small with just a couple listings on ko-fi or something. 💙
But that's the result of nearly 15 years of offering the same product on the same shop. when I started the shop, ko-fi and Shopify and more weren't even options. And I do this for my full-time job as opposed to a side hustle or a passion project.
For us, Etsy is 💯 where we are and want to stay, bc of the volume we sell and because of the ability to passively find new customers. Honestly, the power of patience, good customer service, and time can be proven just by googling "paopu fruit plush". last I checked, the top THREE results were us 😂
