US physicists show how immense pulse of radiation could vaporise the side of asteroid and nudge it off course
According to my calculations, based on DART, we can deflect the impactor by chucking a grand piano at it. A shame, but far less expensive than a nuke.
It's always nuclear weapons! Sure, let's blow the asteroid into a bazillion pieces that can all enter the atmosphere at the same time to create havoc instead of, say, spray painting the asteroid to make it absorb more or less solar radiation and change its orbit just enough to miss the planet.
