People in oppressed countries will have no sympathy for you like they have little sympathy for me. They are being murdered and you are watching. Like me. The very least I can do is SAY SOMETHING sometimes, try to make something heard and whatever I would do you bet your ass I won't tell anyone here.
Your other option is to watch mass murder over and over and over again while people tell you it's good and either to swallow it whole or come to believe it, let it wash over you, start chanting with them. And die.
The reason I hate some of these YA stories with the plucky protagonists who change nations is that THIS is the real story. Helplessness, small actions, small helps, one person at a time. The Work is actually grueling, boring, depressing, and wears you down with no certain results of any kind.
You are realizing that you actually have no voice, no options. Choose a candidate who says she won't open fire on you and will simply let you die versus a candidate who's campaign is I Will Kill You, or at least that's what I'm seeing, only to realize the country has always been I Will Kill You.

The tough news is this isn't even the only genocide we're supporting or committing this year. Both political parties are part of a unified capitalist front. They're not the same, their agendas are slightly different and those differences are often meaningful, but it was Obama who crushed Occupy.
