Apple 'Egremont Russet'. Another classic Victorian variety, first recorded in 1872, ready in late Sept. Here in the UK this is probably the only russet-style apple you'll see in supermarkets. Well worth picking up a few if and when you do. #NTQBfruit#orchard

My absolute favourite.
Used to live near enough to another NT orchard - where they held an apple day most years. Dozens of varieties and, almost without exception, far nicer than even the best of today's commercial varieties. Now live far away and few local apples.

I have a first crop of Russets in my orchard from a rootstock planted two years ago. It’s early to pick them, but I’ve not been able to resist the odd one or two, and jolly good they are too.
