With the upcoming release of LeBrennessy I thought it might be a good time to remind people why Hennessy and Black culture are so intertwined. Many think it's the association with hip hop, but actually that's just a manifestation of an older alignment that was formed during and after World War II.
Dammit, I came for jokes and boobies, but here I am learning shit.....
Now do menthol cigarettes
This is pretty cool. I don't know much about Hennessy beyond Artest once saying he used to drink it at halftime during games.
It was a good read
During the war, African Americans stationed in France began consuming Hennessy. Afterwards, Hennessy, being French & having a different relationship with Black people than American companies, trail blazed by simply marketing to & employing Black people, carving out an extremely loyal consumer base.
This reminds me of the 90s Subaru ads and lesbians. When you cater to a group and make them known that you're a supporter of, and marketing to, it's wild how much success you can see.
Try a sidecar... it's the only time I'll drink it.
French brothels :)
Not trying to take anything away from you here, but I thought it went back to WW I...?
