On every road trip, I obsessively collect the state highway maps they have at the larger rest stops. It’s paid off a few times! You don’t need them until you REALLY do! There’s been a couple of times the rest area would be out of maps and I felt panicky inside. 🗺️

There's something reassuring (to me, an old weirdo) about paper maps. I always get some when I'm anywhere new.

As people are deciding whether or not to try to temporarily evacuate Asheville, the lack of paper maps is a major barrier. We still need them in times like these and no one has them.

If your only goal was to design a spider habitat, as opposed to a building material, I don’t think you could do better than these bricks, truly a marvel in spider home engineering

People will dismiss having like, the lower right quadrant of the country get flash-flood quantities of rain and whiplash from the wind as, "so what, it rains more" as if the earth didn't have a Carnian Pluvial Event that lasted 2 million years where it basically just kept raining the whole time.
