So I guess the TLDR is digital money makes the concept of money seem abstract, and once you're separated from material reality of money, you start making selfish choices and those have real life consequences.
Tbh I'm not surprised Its just different when money is in your hand and you're literally thinking, okay this $20 is 1 pack of chicken legs, 1 bag of potatoes, etc etc. It's different when it's digital. Digital is convenient, but there's a price for sure
Rich People don't think about money in terms of "this is x amount of months of rent and therefore housing security" They think about numbers in ledgers, and there's never enough to satiate them because there's no end to how much digital money you can have. They have no limit
When all you see is numbers and mouse clicks, you forget what money actually is and what it means in real time, especially for the folks who don't have it.
Invisible Money is one of the worst things about modern society. It accelerates greed, imo. I understand why we have currency, but we're a way from trading labor directly for food or exchanging coins for clothes. The idea that money is invisible, but can still be stacked up digitally forever? Nah.
