We often try to correct people’s mistakes by exposing their wrong thinking in debate-like “me vs you,” or by dumping facts on them. We need to remember that it isn’t about trying to win an argument, and these strategies just don’t work the way we think they should. In fact, research has shown that using these approaches makes people hold on even tighter to their current convictions. We know it can feel like you are alone in thinking about this, but remember—you’re not! Concern for the climate is normal, and solutions and climate actions are happening all around us.
