The Netherlands relies on dense urban development and a variety of transport options to move workers across the country. Can other countries adopt the Dutch commute?

Not in the USA. - Population density too low - wages/income too low - transition of infrastructure and building codes too slow - society too belligerent

I don't want to live in a dense urban environment, so to keep my conscience clear I didn't breed. So I'm part of the problem now, but when I am gone I'll have left my space for someone else.

It just needs the political will to integrate different means of public transport and parking outside towns/cities. Cycling is great in flat countries like The Netherlands and flat areas of the UK. I live in Halifax - cycling here is like training for the Tour de France ( or Yorkshire)🚵

Not many because decades of national infrastructure planning has made it a nightmare to transition. Individual cities however can make the change. Especially a city like London.

Yes, but governments are dissuaded from making the investment in public transport nodes and biking infrastructure to make it work. It equalises travel for minorities AND reduces fossil fuel dependence. If the public don’t win, who does?!

The Netherlands has had a well-developed transport system for over 40 years. On my first visit in 1981 I camped at Noordwijk. I caught the last train from Den Haag to Leiden where I just had time to get the last bus to the camp site. The train was delayed by ten mins because a woman dropped her 1/2
